Cycle path Ploučnice

The Ploučnice cycle trail is marked as cycle route number 15 according to the KČT cyclotourism markings. On the territory of the Ústí nad Labem Region, the trail starts in Děčín at the junction with the Elbe Trail, passes through the Ploučnice River valley towards Benešov nad Ploučnicí, Františkov nad Ploučnicí and Starý Šachov, where it passes into the Liberec Region. In the Ústí nad Labem Region, the route is mostly a cycle path. However, there are also sections that are routed along the road in parallel with car traffic.

The cycle route in the section Děčín - Benešov nad Ploučnicí does not show significant terrain elevation. From Benešov nad Ploučnicí it climbs quite steeply below the Ostrý hill (top 300 m above sea level), i.e. about 180 metres above sea level. It then descends towards the river and follows the slightly undulating terrain on the route to Starý Šachov.

The Ploučnice cycle path in the Liberec Region

Cycle Route 15 is currently not fully connected and continuous. On the territory of the Liberec Region, a short section runs from the border with the Ústí Region in Staré Šachov to Žandov. Another part of the cycle route starts in Mimon and runs through Stráž pod Ralskem, Hamr na Jezeře, Osečná to Pláně pod Ještědem. In the future, cycle route 15 should be marked and the two current parts of the trail should be connected along the Ploučnice River.
