Conference Tourism with a view 2019

The conference discussed cross-border cooperation in tourism and news on the Elbe Route.

On Wednesday, 5 June 2019, representatives of tourism organisations met in the hall of the Regional Office of the Ústí nad Labem Region to evaluate the outputs of the cross-border project Tourism with a View. For more than three years, thanks to this project, intensive cooperation between the Saxony Tourist Board, the Destination Agency Bohemian Switzerland and the Destination Agency České středohoří has been taking place.

"The project was primarily focused on marketing our regions, common tourist products and also on new trends in sustainable tourism. That is why we emphasised sustainable public transport in our campaigns and tried to attract potential visitors to lesser-known places", says Ina Kische, manager of the Saxon Tourist Board, about the main idea of the project.

On the Czech side, in addition to marketing campaigns, new tourist products were created or existing ones were improved. A new product, the Křinická trail, was created in Bohemian Switzerland and a completely new sign for the long-distance international cycle route, the Elbe Trail, was built throughout the Ústí nad Labem Region.

"On the German side we can see how cycling can be interesting for the region. It increases the number of visitors to sights, and commercial tourism services. This is what we have tried to do on the Elbe Trail in the Ústí nad Labem region. We have marked out tourist attractions in the vicinity of the Elbe Trail, printed new maps in language versions and created a quality information service for visitors in the form of a new website and a 24-hour telephone line" added Jan Piegl, manager of the Destination Agency České středohoří, to the project's outputs.

Representatives of all organizations agreed to continue and further deepen the cooperation, which is especially beneficial for visitors to the regions of Saxony and the Ústí nad Labem Region.
