Diocesan Museum – Litoměřice

The environment of the late Gothic building No. 24, Litoměřice Square, hides the Diocesan Museum Litoměřice. Since 1995, the artworks of the collections of the bishops of Litoměřice, including unique paintings by old masters, can be seen here.

The Gallery and Museum of the Diocese of Litoměřice is housed in the originally Gothic house No. 24 on Mírové náměstí, where works from the collections of the Diocese of Litoměřice have been accessible since 1995. The medieval building with the year 1513 written on the label above the window of the first floor and with the arcade used to be two-storey, on the ground floor it preserves the layout of the mausoleum with a staircase to the upper part of the house.

Among the oldest artifacts of this unique collection are stone statues of evangelists from the church in Žitenice from the end of 12th century.

In the display cabinets in the museum's exposition, you will find, for example, examples of the sophistication of artistic craftsmanship - goblet, ciboriums, monstrances, priestly robes, but also episcopal miter and pontifical gloves.
