Discover the Lake Cycle Route in the Bohemian Central Uplands

Before the 2025 cycling season, a new cycling route was marked in the Bohemian Central Uplands, which will lead cyclists to the town of Úštěk.

Cycle route No. 25 starts in the Ore Mountains near the village of Brandov, not far from Mount St. Kateřina. For many years, the route has been near the Elbe River in Malé Žernosky. Before the 2025 cycling season, however, thanks to the cooperation of the České středohoří destination, the Ústí nad Labem Region and the Czech Tourist Club, another part of this cycle route was marked. It runs first parallel to the Elbe Trail and then along quiet secondary roads through Křešice, Zahořany, Dolní Řepčice or Dolní Nezly to Úštěk, which is known for its historic centre and also as a recreational area with Lake Chmelař.
From Úštěk, cycle route No. 25 continues on to the village of Ostré with an interesting pilgrimage site and ends at the border with the Liberec region at Skalka. On the territory of the Liberec Region, the route has its second part from Dubá through Doksy, Ralsko, Osečná and Křizany to Lake Kristýna. These two parts should be prospectively connected to make the route continuous.

Cycle Route 25 is over 200 km long and has been given a new name. The name "Lake Cycle Route" refers to the lakes along the route. These are Lake Most, Lake Píšt'anské jezero, Lake Chmelař, Lake Máchovo jezero and Lake Kristýna.

A map with the exact route can be found here.
