It has less than 400 inhabitants. There is a climatological observatory and a meteorological station of the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute.
There are several interesting sights in the village, such as the Doksany Monastery on the western edge of the village, the cemetery church of St. Peter and Paul, a pair of 19th century niche chapels and the statue of Christ the Sufferer.
