OUR GERMANS - UNSERE DEUTSCHEN

The new permanent exhibition of the Ústí Museum presents the history of the German-speaking population of the Czech lands in a total of 22 exhibition halls.

Visitors will find a room devoted to the reign of Charles IV, the Reformation efforts of both Czechs and Germans, the modernizing reforms of Joseph II and the Habsburg rulers on the Czech throne.

He finds himself in the middle of a Baroque procession to John of Nepomuk, on a barricade in the revolutionary year of 1848, peeks into a bourgeois salon during the Biedermeier period, visits the Czech Provincial Assembly, torn by quarrels between Czechs and Germans, listen to a conversation between regulars in a pub in Loket nad Ohří and a Prague café, watch a screening of family films in a functionalist villa and, at the end, play table football with teams wearing German club jerseys.
