Ruins of Košťálov Castle

The castle, first mentioned in 1372, served from the Hussite wars as the residence of the important North Bohemian family of Kaplíř of Sulevice; it too fell into disuse in the Renaissance 16th century, when it was replaced by other, more accessible residences.

The silhouette of a massive rocky mound with the ruins of a castle palace on the top, towering above Třebenice, is one of the important landscape dominants of the Bohemian Central Highlands and a place offering extraordinary panoramic views.
