Ruins of the Altar Castle

The small castle, consisting practically only of a palace and a gate tower, was built sometime after Lipany by the Hussite governor Jakoubek of Vřesovice.

The building with its function as a military stronghold was very inconvenient due to its extreme position on a significant rock peak, so it is not surprising that it was abandoned in the first half of the 16th century. The castle ruin, which is extremely picturesque in the landscape, is now a popular destination for hikers, who are rewarded with a far-reaching circular view.
