The Richard Mine Exhibition

A new exposition in an approximately 80 m long underground corridor winding under the town hall was opened by the Litoměřice Tourism Centre.

After entering the underground through the entrance in Jarošova Street, you will follow the traces of the history of the Richard Mine, which is located on the nearby Bídnice Hill and is not open to the public. Since the mine was first used for limestone mining, then the Nazis built a factory and now it serves as a repository for radioactive waste, the exhibition is divided into three parts. Each of them commemorates one period.

Tickets can be purchased at the information centre in the Town Hall arcade on Mírov Square. The permanent exhibition of the Terezín Memorial dedicated to the occupation history of the Richard Mine, entitled "Concentration Camp Litoměřice 1944-1945", can be seen in the nearby Small Fortress. Another interesting place in the Litoměřice underground are the catacombs.

Catacombs and historical underground of the royal town of Litoměřice

The Litoměřice catacombs are among the largest in Bohemia and offer visitors a remarkable experience. A 366 m long section of the tunnels, which is also the lapidary of the Regional Museum of Local History, is open to the public. The corridors reach up to 3 km in length and some cellars even have 3 floors. Previously, the corridors connected churches and monasteries in Litoměřice. More information about the catacombs.
