The twelfth certification commission met at the Destination Agency of the Central Bohemian Uplands on Wednesday, December 12, to award the CENTRAL BOHEMIAN UPLANDS regional product® to new applicants. The number of certified products, services and experiences has thus expanded from the existing 25 to 31.
Interest in obtaining this certificate is growing every year. Its holders see the brand as an appreciation of their work, commitment, tradition and love for the region in which they live. For customers, the brand is a guarantee of quality and locality. This year's applicants for certification fought tried to show their skill and determination to the commission.
And what new holders do we have?
Firstly, three certificates were renewed for the next three years for Jan Tyle and his amazing chopped fences, Alena Šumová from Levín for her unique pottery fired in a wood-fired kiln, and then Petra Brázová from Litoměřice for her hand-woven clothing and house accessories.
Of the new certificates, the commission awarded two to Mr. Valdemar Grešík and his company Natura s.r.o. These are Fruit Jams from the Central Bohemian Uplands and Dried Fruits from the Central Bohemian Uplands. Although the company is based in Děčín, raw materials all of its fruit is grown in orchards between Lovoš and Milešovka and near Třebívlice. All fruit is picked and cut by hand, jams contain 60-90% fruit, cane sugar and pectin and are truly delicious.
Another new certificate holder is Mrs. Lucie Kudibálová and her homemade Ice Cream Porta Bohemica. It contains only local products, such as raspberries from the Ploskovice raspberry farm, Bohušovice cream and water.
Simona Görtlerová from Klapý won a certificate for the experience of the Lavender festivities in the Lavender Garden Klapý and for her Lavender cookies, which her family bakes for three generations according to a family recipe. The main ingredient is culinary lavender. Mrs. Simona grows it in her garden, which is a paradise of relaxation, an insect hotel and also a green village. Lavender has belonged to the Central Bohemian Uplands for more than 100 years. The drier and warm soil is good for it here, which is why we can still find it freely on the surrounding basalt slopes near Házmburk.
Last but not least, Pasture Festival event received the certificate. It was presented by Mr. Petr Kříž from the Agency for Nature and Landscape Protection of the Czech Republic. The all-day event focused on education in the field of nature protection of the Protected Landscape Area of Central Bohemian Uplands and is intended mainly for families with children. There is a walking circuit with adventure sites, a fair with regional products and a cultural program. The event takes place regularly at the beginning of September in the village of Hlinná near Litoměřic and in the vicinity of the Holý vrch and Hradiště Nature Reserves.
The Commission will meet again in 2021 and is already looking forward to new applicants.
