Bicycle tour along the Elbe River - Roudnice nad Labem - Štětí

Try the newly created part of the alternative route of the Elbe Trail 2A, which will take you from Roudnice nad Labem along the right bank to Štětí. Visit the beautiful viewpoint of the Elbe Terrace or visit the Olympic Water Sports Centre Labe Arena in Račice. The trip is shorter, but due to the sometimes worse terrain it is more suitable for mountain bikes or trekking bikes.

The trip starts in Roudnice nad Labem, where you can pick up a lot of valuable information at the Podřipsko Information and Transport Centre before the trip. From Roudnice, cross the bridge and continue towards Vědomice at the crossroads, following the new cycle route No. 2A. This will take you along a minor road to Kyškovice, where you will pass a nice hop farm. Follow a nice path along the Elbe to Brzánky. Right above you will be the interesting hill Sovice. It is an important archaeological site. A local hillfort probably stood here as early as the 9th century. Continue on to below the Elbe Terrace. Be sure to take your bike there, even if you have to push it. The view from the terrace is worth it. Once you have had a rest, head back down to cycle route 2A. Now the route is on a worse surface. From the lock the surface is a little better again. By then you are almost in Štětí, where you cross the Elbe again and join the main route of the Elbe Trail. This will lead you back to Roudnice nad Labem. On the way you can still stop in Račice at the Elbe Arena. In Roudnice, you can then store your bikes at the information centre and take a tour of the local castle.

Štětí Town

The town of Štětí lies on the right bank of the river Elbe south of Litoměřice. Štětí is the symbolic gateway to the Kokořínsko Protected Landscape Area. It is a frequent destination for hikers and cyclists due to the diverse nature of the landscape.

Štětí is situated on the right bank of the river Labe. Štětí is the entrance gate to the Kokořín Region Protected Landscape Area and because of the diverse landscape, it is very popular among cyclists and hikers.

The most notable building of the town is the Church of St. Simon and Judas.

The relax area on the Labe embankment is also worth visiting. As for the rich culture life in Štětí, one of the most important events is a National Festival of Brass Music Bands and Majorette Teams (FEDO) taking place in Štětí every other year. You can learn about the history, industry, agriculture, and nature by taking The Štětka the Robber’s Educational Trail around the town and its surrounding areas.
