Golden Trail over the Land of Castles
The "Golden Trail over the Land of Castles" with a total length of 89 km from Budyně nad Ohří to Úštěk connects most of the important castle monuments in the area of the Central Bohemian Uplands.
The Central Bohemian Uplands are surely a region with a unique atmosphere of beautiful nature, high basalt mounds and - above all - the land of castle ruins that crown these magnificant peaks. And those wonderful views of the region… you will love them! You will not see anything similar in the Czech lands. Moreover, few people realize that the Central Bohemian Uplands is the place where the oldest Czech legends take place and that it is also the only region where the invincible Czech military leader Jan Žižka from Trocnov imprinted his strategic genius on his own castle - Kalich.

Velké Žernoseky Village
The village lies on the right bank of the Elbe with an average height of 158 meters above sea level. Numerous finds from the Stone Age and the Iron Age show the ancient settlement of the place.
Velké Žernoseky is a traditional wine-producing village. The vineyards in Velké Žernoseky were first mentioned as early as the middle of the 13th century, but they were probably established at the end of the 12th century. In 1143, the Czech King Vladislav II invited dozens of monks from the monastery in Steinfeld upon Rhein to build vineyards in the Velké Žernoseky area. Today, the vineyards are located in several places and are connected by wine trails with different names, like Malá Vendule, Velká Vendule, Mariánská, Pod Třešňovkou, and Kostelní. In the village, you can visit a lot of wine cellars or join the Litoměřice wine trail and learn more about wine and wine producers of the Litoměřice region. It is also possible to take a cruise liner to Litoměřice, or Lovosice, or down the river to Ústí nad Labem.
