Oparenského valley and educational trail to Lovoš

A trip to the Oparenské valley along the Lovoš educational trail to the top of the mountin.

The picturesque Oparenské valley is about 6 km long and stretches from Malé Žernoseky to Velemín. The whole valley offers a beautiful natural environment.

The trip - start and end

The trip begins in Malé Žernoseky, where there is a beautiful view of the opposite Žernoseky vineyards and the Porta Bohemica valley, when you wait for the local ferry. The route of the trip in the village of Malé Žernoseky connects to the Lovoš Nature Trail, which goes together with the yellow tourist route and cycle route No. 25. The route leads through the picturesque Oparenské valley to the Černodolský mill, where it is possible to have a snack. From here, continue out of the valley itself and along the green tourist rout to the nearby ruins of Oparno Castle. After descending from the castle to the village of the same name, the Lovoš nature trail leads together with the blue route to the very top of Lovoš to an altitude of 570 meters.

The Lovoš nature trail stretches over 9 km and has 12 stops with information boards that inform visitors mainly about natural and its attractions. After the ascent to the Lovoš hill, everyone is rewarded with a beautiful view of the Central Bohemian Uplands. In addition, it is possible to have a snack in a local tourist hut.

To return from the trip, it is possible to use the same path or descend from Lovos along the green tourist route to Lovosice.

Lovoš

Lovoš is a distinctive peak of the Central Bohemian Uplands and a popular tourist destination. It creates a natural dominant feature of Lovosice and its surroundings.

Lovoš is a ne-phelinite mountain close to Lovosice. Its peak lies at an altitude of 570m and a blue hiking trail leads to the top. A tourist hut was built on the top of Lovoš, from which there is a view of all cardinal directions. Among other things, you can also see the whole town of Lovosice and also the near landscape of the Central Bohemian Uplands very well.

The peak of Lovoiš is protected as the Lovoš National Nature Reserve. It occupies the top and partly slope parts of two hills with different geological structures. Velký Lovoš (570 m a. s. l.) with alkaline basalt rocks and Malý Lovoš, also Kybička (489 m a. s. l.), with more acidic trachyte rock. Many protected plants can be found here, such as the burning bush, the leafless iris, the small pasque flower, and the St Bernard's lily. The insect fauna is also very rich.
