Open-air museum and historical dresins - Zubrnice

The only open-air museum in northern Bohemia shows the housing, the culture and the connection between the original inhabitants and the landscape in the former Sudetland and its transformation after the war.

The basis of the Open-air museum Zubrnice is the historical village. The set of buildings of vernacular architecture is made of timbered, half-timbered and brick buildings.

The complex of buildings resembles the life and work of people from the farmstead. For example, we can find a timbered building, a village shop or a small water mill powered by the water from the Luční brook. The exposition of an old village school is also very interesting. Folk fairs have become a tradition in the museum (on Easter, in autumn and on Christmas), when the village appears more traditional.

An intresting technical monument is the train station built in the year 1890 to the local railway Velké Březno – Úštěk – Verneřice. The Railway Museum in the area of the station in Zubrnice offers an exhibition of the history and present of the railway, a view of a small transport office with old equipment or historic draisines. Rides are available for those interested. Part of the track (11 km) was listed in the list of monuments of the Czech Republic. The owner and operator of the museum is the organization Zubrnická museum railway.
