Polabské trails for wine and knowledge

Due to the location of the Litoměřice and Mělník wine sub-region, the Polabská Trail was created to connect the possibilities of tourism attractions.

Polabské trails for wine and knowledge connects two wine sub-regions of Bohemia

It is a link between the Litoměřice wine sub-region and the Mělník wine sub-region and their most important tourist destinations and wine-growing localities. The route starts in Roudnice nad Labem and continues through Kyškovice, Hoštka, Štětí and Liběchov to Mělník. There are several information boards along the route, which provide visitors with information about attractive tourist destinations near the route. While travelling along this trail, it is possible to visit several wineries and taste wines from both wine sub-regions of Bohemia.

Winery in Liběchov

Liběchov and the surrounding area falls under the Mělník wine sub-region together with 42 other wine-growing municipalities.

This sub-region was created in 2004 in connection with the new organisation of wine-growing areas. The soils of the local vineyards provide ideal conditions for growing grapes. In the early days (as early as the Middle Ages), blue varieties predominated here, with white varieties only appearing in the 19th century. Today, a winery is being established in Liběchov and its surroundings, farming 70 hectares of vineyards with the idea of becoming the largest local wine processor. The slopes above the Elbe River from Mělník to Liběchov are covered with vineyards - separated by vineyard walls. Local opuka was used in their construction.
