Polabské trails for wine and knowledge

Due to the location of the Litoměřice and Mělník wine sub-region, the Polabská Trail was created to connect the possibilities of tourism attractions.

Polabské trails for wine and knowledge connects two wine sub-regions of Bohemia

It is a link between the Litoměřice wine sub-region and the Mělník wine sub-region and their most important tourist destinations and wine-growing localities. The route starts in Roudnice nad Labem and continues through Kyškovice, Hoštka, Štětí and Liběchov to Mělník. There are several information boards along the route, which provide visitors with information about attractive tourist destinations near the route. While travelling along this trail, it is possible to visit several wineries and taste wines from both wine sub-regions of Bohemia.

Vědomice

It is a right-bank oriented village at an altitude of 155 m above sea level, separated from Roudnice nad Labem by the Elbe River.

The name of the village was derived from the word "vědomý" (vědomci - people engaged in healing people and cattle in the villages). An important crop characteristic of Vědomice is, among other things, hops.

Vědomice first appears in written records around 1505, when the village belonged to the Roudnice manor. The location of the village had a considerable economic advantage due to the passing merchant route, the so-called Lusatian Route, connecting Central Bohemia with Upper Lusatia. After the death of William of Rožmberk, Roudnice and the surrounding villages belonged to the widow Polyxena, who married Zdenek Vojtěch Popel of Lobkowicz in 1603.

Currently, there are a number of sports facilities for active leisure activities such as football, volleyball, basketball, swimming and others. The village of Vědomice is the winner of the title of the Village of the Year of the Ústí Region (1999 and 2007), and also boasts other awards in this competition: the White Ribbon for youth activities in 2006, the Green Ribbon for care for greenery and the environment in 2011 and the Blue Ribbon for social life in 2013.
