HUNTING IN THE REGION OF STETTIN

Hunters in Stračí

Hunters are mentioned already during the First Republic, when the hunting committee operated in the village. At that time, however, disputes about the fair hunting rights between Czech and German citizens dragged on. It was not until 18 February 1932 that the Supreme Court in Prague decided to grant the right of hunting to the Czechs, who continued to receive their share of the land.

After the war, the Stračí hunting ground was leased by the businessman Novotný from Ovčár and only in 1948 the Stračí Hunting Association was founded and later transformed into the Polaban Hunting Association. Its members were the cooperative members of the then JZD and the first manager was F. Kubánek. In 1980, the Špičák Radouň Hunting Association was formed by merging smaller associations. At present, the hunting ground in Stračen is managed by the agricultural enterprise Texal Radouň.

Hunting in the region after 1989

The regime change after 1989 also affected the hunting public and especially the position and activities of hunters. Under the pressure of new laws against hunting, new hunting grounds are being created, where new individuals manage for profit. Hunting associations change or disappear after disagreements with new tenants.

The situation was similar in the Radouň Hunting Association, which was formed by merging two associations. The hunters were allowed to exercise the right to hunt on the hunting ground and thus, unlike other hunting associations, to continue to pursue their hobby. The hunting ground is now larger and has expanded to include other game species, especially mouflon and fallow deer.

In the hunting area of 2 121 ha 29 hunters exercise the right of hunting and the main activity was and is the protection of nature and the preservation of all species of animals.

Activities of hunting clubs in the Stettin region

The main activities of hunting associations in the region are cooperation with the public in nature conservation. In addition, by appropriate hunting to maintain the number of game in the hunting ground and to increase the quality of roe deer, which are the main game in the hunting ground. To increase the number of pheasant and hare game and, together with landowners, to increase their protection during the nesting season.
