Podřipská bobbin lace
Bobbin lace is 100% handmade lace, which is created in the hands of experienced lace makers in the association called Podřipské lace makers.
The lace is made in the traditional way under the guidance of Ivanka Špundová, who has been bobbin lace making in the Podřipsko region for many years. The Podřipské lace makers are trying to bring the 450-year-old art from the mountain regions and spread it further.
Podřipská lace is made in the workshop in Vetlá, in the workshop of folk traditions in Bechlín (also holder of the regional brand České středohoří) and in the new Podřipská mini-gallery in Roudnice nad Labem.
This gallery is also the background for the permanent exhibition of bobbin lace, workshops and exhibitions.
Connection to Czech and local suppliers
The threads used for bobbin lace are made of natural materials (linen, silk, cotton). Many suppliers are Czech companies (Barkonia). The lace is placed on handmade paper from the Handmade Paper Workshop in Litoměřice.
Bobbin lace are works of priceless value that take several weeks to create. In addition to large-scale motifs, small art objects such as earrings or bracelets are also made.
