The blue touristic rout to Říp

Říp - The dominant feature of the local region literally calls for a trip.

The legend tells us, the “Acestor of Bohemia” (Praotec Čech) and his people came to Říp. Today, the place is one of the fundamental symbols of Czech statehood. Archaeological finds, however, indicate that Říp attracted attention much earlier. At the very top, at an altitude of 456 m, stands the Romanesque rotunda of St. George and St. Adalbert. The building was restored in 1126 by the Czech prince Soběslav I to celebrate his victory over King Lothar III. of Germany in the famous battle of Chlumec. However, its current appearance is the result of several reconstructions from the 19th to the 21st century. Inside is a sandstone slab with a relief depiction of the fight of St. George with a dragon by Bernard Otto Seeling from 1870 and a statue of St. George, created in 1881 by sculptor Eduard Veselý. The academic sculptor Stanislav Hanzík played a significant role in the interior decoration. The St. George's Pilgrimage is held here every year.

In the tourist season you can also admire the beauty of Podřipsko on scooters. You can choose one of the routes and pleasantly approach a number of unique places.
